The Description Mode is the most challenging mode in Brawl Mystery – and the most rewarding when you master it. You see an official Brawl Stars character description, but almost all words are hidden at the start. More words are revealed with each guess. Only those who know the lore will win here quickly.

How does Description Mode work?

You see a heavily redacted description – most words are replaced by placeholders. Only a few words are visible. With each wrong guess, more words are unveiled, until after a maximum of 8 attempts you see the full description or have already won.

The texts come from the official Brawl Stars universe and describe characters' backgrounds, abilities and personalities. Players who know Brawl Stars well have a massive advantage here.

Strategy: Recognizing key words

1. Job titles & roles

Brawl Stars Brawlers often have very specific jobs that appear in their description – these are golden:

• "bartender" / "drinks" / "lost his job" → Barley
• "botanist" / "plants" / "vines" → Sprout or Rosa
• "mechanic" / "robot" → Jessie, Nani, 8-Bit or Surge
• "gravedigger" / "cemetery" → Mortis
• "miner" / "crystals" → Carl or Jacky
• "detective" / "investigator" → Colette, Bea or similar
• "professional wrestler" / "champion" → El Primo
• "sharpshooter" / "long-range" → Piper, Brock, Nani

2. Locations & settings

Many descriptions name specific places in the Brawl Stars universe:

• "Starr Park" → Brawlers connected to the central theme park
• "Gem Mine" / "mine" → Brawlers with mining backgrounds
• "gift shop" / "souvenir store" → Hints at certain Brawler backstories
• "laboratory" / "experiment" → Scientist Brawlers like Sprout or Penny
• "desert" → Sandy, Amber or desert-related Brawlers

3. Relationships & family connections

A very powerful clue: some Brawlers are mentioned in each other's descriptions!

• Jessie & Pam are mother and daughter – they appear in each other's descriptions
• Mortis leads the Star Riders – other Brawlers from this group may be mentioned
• Bo is the tribe chief – Nita is his protégé
• Sirius (2026) is linked to the shadow concept – his description revolves around control and power

Tips for Description Mode

• Analyze the first words immediately: Even 2–3 visible words can be enough if you know the lore
• Fill gaps intelligently: From the context of visible words you can often reconstruct the sentence
• Combine with Classic Mode logic: If you've narrowed to "Artillery, Rare", combine that with lore knowledge
• Memorize unique terms: Certain words appear in only one description – those are your keys
• Know the new Brawlers: Najia (2026) has snake-related description; Sirius (2026) revolves around shadows and control

Common mistakes in Description Mode

• ❌ Thinking too broadly: "Strong" and "brave" fit many Brawlers – wait for more specific keywords
• ❌ Guessing too early: With 1–2 visible words it's usually better to invest another guess for more context
• ❌ Ignoring lore: Players who don't know Brawler stories are fighting blindfolded here
• ❌ Missing grammar hints: Word forms (plural, female endings) can indicate Brawler type
• ❌ Not using context: "______ and her robot" → clearly a female Brawler with robot = Nani or Jessie

Example puzzle – Description Mode

Suppose the description reads: "The ______ ______ has ______ lost his job as a ______. But in his ______ he lives on…"

• Visible: "lost", "lives on" → suggests death or transformation
• Guess 1: Mortis (wrong) → More words: "as a bartender"
• Now clear: "bartender" → Guess 2: Barley → ✅ Correct! Solved in 2 guesses!

• Read Brawler descriptions in Brawl Stars in the Brawler selection screen
• Use the Brawl Stars wiki for more detailed backstories
• Start with the oldest Brawlers (2017–2019) – they have the best-known descriptions
• Play Description Mode daily – every wrong guess is a learning opportunity
• After each puzzle, note which keywords your Brawler had
